Director Elections

If you are interested in joining the board, you may submit an application using this fillable form. Before submitting your application, save it using this naming convention: YYYY-MM-DD Board App Last Name. For example, Jane Smith’s application submitted November 25 2020 would have the name 2020-11-25 Board App Smith.

Copies of the required elections forms may be obtained by calling Benton SWCD Operations Manager at 541-753-7208. Election forms and information may also be found on the Oregon Department of Agriculture website here.

Each candidate must file a “Declaration of Candidacy” and a “Petition for Nomination Signature Sheet” with the Oregon Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Division. For the 2020 election cycle, the filing deadline is 5:00 p.m. on August 25, 2020.

Write-in Candidates

If no candidate filed to have their name place on the ballot for a position, then the position becomes open for write-in candidates. Individuals may file a Declaration of Intent and Request for Write-In Votes to be Tallied form with ODA to have write-in votes cast in their behalf tallied. For the 2020 election cycle, candidates must file this form no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 20, 2020.

The county clerk will not count any write-in votes cast for any person for that position if there are no names on the ballot, and if there are no Declaration of Intent and Request for Write-In Votes to be Tallied forms filed. Please contact ODA if the write-in option is being considered. This form may be obtained at the local Soil and Water Conservation District office, or on the Oregon Department of Agriculture website here.
