This multi-branched deciduous shrub can reach 50+ feet tall. Male and female flowers grow on different trees. leaves dark green above, and whitish-hairy below.

Habitat Notes	good for disturbed sites; does not tolerate shade.

Shade Preference	full sun
Soil Tolerance	moist, well-drained to poorly-drained soils
Special Uses	bank stabilization; great wildlife plant; attracts pollinators.
